Best Bars In London

February 22, 2013 by The Runaway Guide Leave a Comment

british pubFew things are more quintessentially British than an outing to the pub. It is an indisputable cornerstone of British culture. People drink when it rains, they drink when it shines, and they also drink at anytime. Yet despite all this drinking, everyone still miraculously manages to get things done.

In order to accommodate all these functioning alcoholics, the great metropolis of London rose to the challenge with some of the worlds best bars.

Admittedly, that was a fairly bold statement. To some, many Brits included, the best bars are those with the highest alcohol consumption to price ratio. To others, the best bars are those with a wide variety of beers to taste. However, it’s fairly safe to say that the best bars are usually those with the best crowds and beats. Because no matter how many Snake Bites you put down, if it’s only you and one-eyed Pat, it’s just a big shit show.

So, if you don’t want to end up like the guy above, below are three of the best bars in London.

1) The Lock Tavern

The Lock Tavern has class but can easily get crazy, especially during the live performances on the weekends. One of the best features of this bar is it’s rooftop balcony. Here you can watch the world walk by while enjoying a drink or a smoke. It is definitely a bar not to miss if you’re in or around Chalk Farm Road. Photo credit: http://www.lock-tavern.com/

2) Queen of Hoxton

Queen of Hoxton is a bar with an extra bit of awesomeness. Yes it has everything you want from a bar, good music, a hip but not too hip crowed, and a warm atmosphere, but it also has a native American Tepee on it’s roof. Tepee? Yes, Tepee. Here you can grill everything from Smores to steak on their outdoor barbeque and smoke to your hearts content. Photo credit:  http://www.queenofhoxton.com/

3) Proud Camden

Proud Camden is as it’s name suggests located in the heart of Camden, one of the trendier districts in London. If you’re into live music, excellent DJ’s, and one big party, this is where it’s at.

Conclusion

Although there are plenty of other awesome bars in London, the former three are definitely some of the coolest. They have the music, they got the right crowed and the alcohol is always flowing.

In the end though, the best nights out are always predicated on the people you’re with and meet. It also helps to be in the right state of mind. So next time you’re in London, be sure throw back a few pre-game drinks, get pumped, gather some friends, and check out these bars.
