Berlin v Paris

August 9, 2012 by The Runaway Guide Leave a Comment

Comparing Berlin v Paris as the best city in Europe is a challenge, as both cities are bursting with enough history, art and vibrant nightlife to keep the most avid of tourists spoiled for choice. Paris has some perhaps more familiar attractions, which have become iconic due to their appearance in films and other media. A short trip will pass by very quickly even if you only take the main attractions in. Take a stroll down the Champ Elysees for a bit of window shopping and to look at the Arc de Triomphe. Amble over to gaze up at the Eiffel Tower, before going to the top and enjoying the view. Marvel at the wildly romantic architecture of the Sacre Ceour, before going to the Louvre to see the most famous painting in the world – the Mona Lisa.
Berlin also has many main attractions to keep you interested. Take a trip to Museum Island which is a UNESCO listed World Heritage site, and home to five of Berlin’s top museums containing internationally renowned collections of art and archaeology. Find the last remains of the Berlin Wall which separated West and East Berlin until it was demolished in 1990 and visit Checkpoint Charlie, the famous east-west border control-point. Then take in the city’s aquarium or get to know the animals in one of the city’s two zoos. There is simply so much to do; the ‘best’ is really a matter of what you enjoy doing as both cities pretty much have it all.
Remember to always have good travel insurance cover whenever you go away. Being away from the routine of home is fun and exciting, and having travel insurance gives you peace of mind should anything go wrong. Why not visit both cities and find out first hand which one you like best.
