World Dance Off: Eritrea vs. Japan/USA

March 18, 2012 by The Runaway Guide Leave a Comment

american and japanese dance off

Having two parents as former Broadway dancers gave me an appreciation of the arts from an early age. In the result, today, I have an intense passion for music and dance. Wherever I go, whether it be Japan or Sudan, I always try and seek out that countries music and dance scenes. I do this not only to add new tunes to my ipod and new dance moves to my repertoire but also to get a feeling for the people, their unspoken language, their traditions, and culture. Though the video below is a little comical in its juxtaposition of nyc and Japanese hip hop with traditional Eritrean moves, it illustrates the power of dance as a medium of expression and is simply fun to watch. Check it out.
