Runaway Photo of the Week: 3/14/12

March 14, 2012 by The Runaway Guide 4 Comments

Moving day in Khartoum, a bunch of sudanese precariously riding atop a truck

It was moving day, Sudanese style.

Sudan is a relatively recluse and geographically isolated country. As a result, there really aren’t many westerners here. So when these Sudanese guys saw me, a tall lanky blonde guy, riding atop some furniture atop a truck, just like them, they went NUTS!

Hey Leif, I love your blog and the awesome adventures you have. What sets you apart from other travel bloggers is your not afraid to blog about various exploits in the system and be frank about it. You hopped borders too?? That must have been freaking epic and scary! I am 17 and wish I could live a life as adventurous as yours! The first place I’d love to go is thailand!

Anyways I enjoy reading your blogs the most and encourage you to make more! They help me feel like anyone can travel the world even those on a tight budget!

Thanks for the compliments John. It’s comments like these that keep me going.
You can totally do it too, just gotta go for it and trust that it’s all going to be good.
      Best,
      Leif

Over 10 years later and I'm still "on the run," surviving in style, thriving off adventure, searching for that elusive road to enlightenment, and cultivating the life of travel that I want to live.
