30 Awesome Adventures On The Cheap

Awesome Adventures By Any Means

Get on it!

Mongol Derby

The Mongol Derby is another absurdly awesome adventure brought to you by the Adventurists. It’s a 600 mile long horse race across the epic Mongolian steppes. See here for more info, Mongol Derby.

Paddle Down The Danube

Since the advent of the European Union, you can now raft, kayak, or canoe the entire length of the Danube with little trouble from authorities. The Danube begins in Bavaria and winds through Austria, Slovakia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria until finally emptying into the Black Sea. It is an adventure that I nearly embarked on in 2008 but unfortunately had to back out of. One day though :)

Go Protesting

No experience is more exhilarating than running top speed to avoid a volley of tear gas and a 1000 man stampede. For info on a protesting adventure, check out How To Protest Around The World.

World Cycle Race

This is the longest and toughest bicycle race on earth. It’s one lap around the globe and roughly 18,000 miles long. It’s also organized by the Adventurists and is for charity. After my bike ride through Egypt, I’m not sure if this is something for me anymore. But if you’re a cyclist and are looking for an adventure, the World Cycle Race is it.

Conclusion

The world is still full of countless adventures. Although they might not be exciting as discovering the temple of doom, they’re pretty close. In terms of awesome train rides, you should try the Mauritanian Iron Ore Train…the longest train in the world and it’s FREE!

This is really a great guide. I could only hike all that if fresh juices were waiting for me every few km :D
